Plums in Missouri typically run Jul through Sep, with peak picking in Aug–Sep. Cooler northern and higher-elevation farms tend to ripen a week or two later than the southern part of the state.

Most U-pick farms are walk-up, but popular ones sell out of ripe fruit on weekend mornings. Call ahead or check the farm's page for the day's picking conditions — many post a daily 'open / picked out' status.
